FrOSCon

Since 2006, the two-day Free and Open Source Software Conference (FrOSCon) has been organised annually in August by the association of the same name together with the local Linux/Unix User Group and the Department of Computer Science on the topics of free software and open source. In 2008, it was the third largest event of its kind in Germany with 1250 participants. According to the organisers, the event began in 2006 with 700 participants and 69 lectures and workshops; in 2010, 104 lectures and workshops were offered. A unique feature of the conference is the extensive children's and youth programme in the form of a holiday camp organised by children and young people from the associated association Teckids e. V. itself, with over 60 children and young people aged between 8 and 16.
